Installing numpy on windows 8.1 with python 3.5 -


i have used numpy , installed pip quite in past. never experienced trouble.

however seem unable install numpy. first claimed didn't have visual studio runtime - went ahead , downloaded current visual studio community edition.

however gave again similar problem, after long error ends with:

error: unable find vcvarsall.bat

testing python version information results

my computer runs near clean version of windows 8.1 (64 bit). (about week old)

i downloaded "just" community 2015 version of visual studio (how test/get correct c compiler microsoft?) - problem?

i see many (years old) posts problem typically talked setuptools or python 2.x. , link older versions of visual studio - i'd not install multiple versions of studio unless it's necessity.

and community edition installs msc 1900 right? - can test that?

edit: tested 64 bit version of python (why default 32bit?). - "same" error.

as per answer, c++ common tools feature has selected when installing in visual studio.

vs2015 setup

if visual studio installed, can add reconfiguring (no need reinstall everything).
