linux - Using ncurses for pagination -


i have implemented custom shell using "clish". need add pagination of command output. couldn't find standalone libraries this.

my understanding ncurses used many linux utilities add pagination feature. not find helpful tutorials this.

can point me in right direction? there other simpler tool this?

the simplest thing reuse existing program, making shell run needed. actually, shells not run pagers except part of running arbitrary programs. , of existing programs might interested in rather old , complex -- hard use model development.

if shell must have built-in pager, writing 1 (like many programs), relatively simple workable. grow according time/energy.

a quick @ ncurses-programming-howto shows several simple programs. ncurses-examples includes simple pager (actually file-viewer) view.c.
